What should I bring to class?

All materials are provided by Art Start. Just bring enthusiasm and get ready to create!

Where are classes held?​​

The Art Start studio is located in Airport Heights in St. John's, NL. Entry to the studio is located at ground level, accessible from the back.

Do I need any prior experience to join?

No experience is required for our INTRO classes.

Whether you're a complete beginner, returning to art after a break, or have some experience, Art Start is here to support you in enhancing your skills and building your confidence.

Please Note:  The Wednesday Niters and Alla Prima Workshop sessions require previous knowledge of the basic oil painting principles of "fat over lean" and value work.  Also, the Acrylics Explorer:Beyond the Basics requires previous experience with Acrylics.

What should I wear?

Aprons/Smocks will be provided.  It is recommended that you wear something that you wouldn't mind getting a little paint on.  For safety:  footwear is a must while in the Studio. We ask that you please refrain from wearing perfume.

Can I make up a missed class?

Art Start offers ONE additional make up session for the Acrylics or Oil Painting classes, if you miss a class due to illness, work/travel commitments, or you just need a little extra time to finish up your painting.

What is the class size?

Classes and Workshops range from 3-10 participants.  

 

Please Note:  Art Start requires at least 3 registrants to proceed with a class/workshop or studio session.  If this minimum is not met, you will be notified and offfered an alternative time slot or full refund, whichever you prefer.

How do I register for a class?

To register,  please select your choice(s) and complete the online registration process.

Are there any additional fees?

There are no additional fees for any of the classes or workshops.  

 

Are Art Start's classes tax deductible?

No, sorry, Art Start is a private Art Studio, receipts for classes/workshops are ineligible as tax deductions.

 

Do you have a Refund Policy? ​YES

 

Time Frame for Refunds:

   - Full Refund: Offered if a student cancels at least 1-2 weeks before the class starts.

   - Partial Refund: Offered for cancellations made within 3 days of the class start date

      (e.g., 80% refund).

   - No Refund:  For cancellations made after the first class has started.

Transfer Policy:

   - Allow students to transfer to another session or class if they cannot attend
