Karen Furneaux is an artist from St. John's, NL, who has passionately embraced creativity for over 40 years. Growing up in a nurturing environment filled with artistic expression, Karen was fortunate to be surrounded by a family of artists who fostered her love for experimentation and exploration in various creative processes.
Drawing inspiration from vibrant colors, life, and energy that surround us, Karen channels this essence into her work, which spans a diverse array of subjects such as animals, portraits, and whimsical creations. While her portraiture leans towards painterly realism, her true passion lies in the enchanting world of whimsical art.
Predominantly working with oil paints, Karen also enjoys the versatility of acrylics and pastels, striving to capture the vibrancy of life with bold brushstrokes and vivid hues. Each piece begins with whatever captivates her interest at the moment, leading to a journey of exploration and discovery.

Based in Airport Heights, St. John's, NL, Art Start is a private art studio filled with creative inspiration. As you enter, artistic tools, materials and fellow creatives surround you, igniting a passion for visual art. This space radiates creative energy, inviting you to unleash your artistic spirit.
Equipped with cozy chairs, ample lighting, sturdy easels and spacious tables, the studio provides the perfect environment to dive into an art project. Whether you're a beginner or experienced artist, this space offers a sanctuary where you can fully immerse yourself in the creative process and meet other Artists. With a capacity for up to 10 students, the art studio is designed for you to escape the outside world and embark on a journey of self-expression.
